Trustees were welcomed at the Meath in Godalming this week. The visit was to confirm whether we can grant aid works to this fine building. The Trust is keen to help the conservation of this locally important building and also to recognise the wonderful care provided at the Meath. The Meath cares for vulnerable adults with epilepsy and disabilities in this elegant Grade ll listed manor house. The house was largely rebuilt in the 17th century, and became the home of the Oglethorpe family. General James Oglethopre famously founded the colony of Georgia. The house was later embellished to the fine stuccoed budling we see today in the mid-1800’s and bought by the Countess of Meath and opened as the Meath Home in 1891.
