Horton Chapel, Epsom has been named overall winner of the Surrey Heritage Awards 2022 organised by Surrey Historic Buildings Trust. Just a few years ago this was a derelict and vandalised building at risk of demolition, but thanks to a community-led heritage regeneration project it has been rescued and transformed into a local arts centre. Surrey Historic Buildings Trust has announced the shortlist for the Surrey Heritage Awards 2022. Six projects have been shortlisted for this year’s awards, which celebrate Surrey’s architectural heritage by highlighting the best recent conservation and restoration projects. A judging panel led by Dr Seán O’Reilly, Director of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation, is currently assessing the shortlisted projects. The Trust’s 2021 Annual General Meeting will be held via ZOOM at 2.00pm on Wednesday 10th November. [Please note this is a change from the previous notice as it had been our intention to hold the meeting at St Mark’s Church, Hale, but due to ongoing health concerns over the rise in Covid-19 infection rates the Trustees reluctantly decided to hold the AGM on-line instead.]

Nominations are invited for the Surrey Heritage Awards 2022. The Awards scheme is run by the Surrey Historic Buildings Trust. It aims to celebrate the county’s architectural heritage by recognising and rewarding the best building conservation projects carried out in Surrey. There are two categories this year: Best Building Conservation Project and Best Building Craftsmanship. Awards will be presented on 30 March 2022 in a special ceremony at Brooklands Museum, Weybridge.
