Surrey Historic Buildings Trust has given a grant of £5,000 for much needed works to the 12th century tower of St Mary the Virgin in Oxted. The church has been on the Historic England Heritage at Risk Register since 2016 due to the poor condition of its stonework. Much of the repair work was completed by 2019. With works to the tower underway, this heritage asset is one step closer to being taken off the Register.
